Hafeez decides to take bowling action test again in England

Pakistan all-rounder Muhamamd Hafeez is set to undergo re-testing of his bowling action as Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) wrote a letter to International Cricket Council (ICC) requesting re-testing.

"PCB had contacted ICC and requested to fix a date for re-testing of bowling action of Hafeez," a top PCB official told DawnNews.

"Bowling action test is likely to happen in Loughborough England," the official added.

The 36-year-old seasoned all-rounder — having represented Pakistan in 50 Tests, 177 ODIs and 77 T20s — has faced problems with his bowling action since 2014.

In July 2015, he was banned from bowling in international cricket for 12 months after his action was found to be illegal for a second time since November 2014.

PCB had hired a bowling coach Carl Crowe to help Hafeez correct his bowling action before taking the bowling assessment test in England but he decided against taking any test because of his fitness issues.

Hafeez was dropped from Pakistan squad for series against West Indies as he was experiencing injury and form issues.

He was also not considered for the two Test match series against New Zealand starting this month.

Why PCB spending money on Hafiz 36 yrs old reaching retired age, we have young talented Immad, Ashar, Fawad Alam, Nawaz, no more Hafiz please honorably retired Pakistan do not need old age player we need next world cup of ODI and T20.

Hafeez makes the perfect case of how PCB and our society in general moves around nepotism and connections. Despite his shambolic performance, he managed to get himself placed in category A by PCB. This is the reason that other players think about favoured/unfavored when they are selected/deseated inspire of reviewing their own performance

Pakistan should move on from him. I would rather urge to not waste Ahmad Shahzad and Umar Akmal. They can easily come to test side. Nawaz didn't impress at all in test matches.

Changed bowling action approved by the ICC for Saeed Ajmal has just made him redundant. Same would be the fate of Hafeez. Better fight the case for accepting whatever angle or arm nature has gifted the players.

Looks like Hafeez trying to follow Misbah footstep to keep playing regardless your age. No need to consider him for Pakistan team. He can enjoy playing in PSL and domestic cricket.

The problem is that there is no spinner - batsman all rounder fit for test ranks , especially as effective as Hafeez. Nawaz looked menacing in ODI's but timid in batting . Fawad perhaps is not in PCB's radar even though his test record is good but his bowling lacks the bite. Unless Immad brings out variations , PCB would have to continue with what they currently have. Hafeez was constantly used as an attacking option after Saeed Ajmal and that's what the strategy seems to be.
