Fidel Castro: revolutionary, renaissance man
A towering figure of 20th century history, Castro died at age 90 on Friday.
Guerrilla revolutionary and communist idol, Fidel Castro was a holdout against history who turned tiny Cuba into a thorn in the paw of the mighty capitalist United States.
His long-winded political rants were legendary. But Castro also loved burning the midnight oil, the written word, and, ironically, the sport that unites Cuba and its US foe: baseball.
Castro squeezed the maximum out of his 90 years which ended when he died late Friday, getting by on snatched rest, sustained by the passion of his interests and the revolution he nurtured for nearly half a century.

What a man. A revolutionary who defied the world's great powers to show to the world that any nation proud of itself can stand alone and be its own master. What a man.

a defiant leader , man of steel nerves and of strong character. although he was photographed once in an outfit other than the trade mark green army uniform, ( when he addressed the U.N. generaly assembly ) never left his socialist and communist idealogy even after the collapse of the kremlin. quite constrast to yassir arafat who never abondoned his trade mark palestenian red and white check scarf and military uniform, but went on compromising agreements after agreements with israel.

He was undemocratic. How can he be supported by seculars and liberals? Never!

Fidel Castro was indeed a great charismatic leader. He was instrumental in providing tremendous inspiration for over seven long decades to millions of feeble, exploited, weak, tyrannized, poor, oppressed, unfortunate, subjugated, trifle, underprivileged, hapless, insignificant, suppressed, downtrodden and powerless people, all over the world.
May God bless his soul in peace and solace. Aameen, Tsum Aameen.

I think journalist also forgot that Mr. Castro said in 1973 that USA will come to us one day when they have black president and Vatican city will lead by Latin American pope.his thinking comes to reality in 2015 USA started diplomatic ties with Havana .open its embassy and lift sanction and trade and tourism embargo in Cuba.U.S. has black president and world has Latin American Argentine pope

Castro outlasted communism mainly due to his personal devotion to the cause and absolute selflessness.

He was one of the lucky ones who got away and wasn't executed by General Batista. He used sensationalism and hysteria to persuade Cubans to buy into his plan. He then turned his back on his ideologies and caused the Cubans to suffer miserably for many years. Much like Trump did in his campaign and his plans for America. People who fall for the lies of revolutionaries will be servants to the false prophets. They will all live hopelessly in the darkness of misinformation. America will take a great leap backward into the dark ages of ignorance and intolerance. American's will learn what it is to suffer once again.

For all the fulsome praise, Castro was a dictator who did not have the courage to deal with differing ideas and put it to test through free and fair elections. Communism is a failed ideology. Not one communist country has thrived by communist principles alone. Nominally communist countries like China and Vietnam could only eradicate poverty through capitalist ideas of increased production and export, not by draconian wealth redistribution. He is a revolutionary alright but his revolution is not worth emulating.

A symbol of patriotism, leadership, devotion, hard working man for his nation, honest, a great fighter. Apart from all these, Cuba supported Pakistan during 2010 disaster in Pakistan by sending 1000 Medical doctors. Thank you Cuba and GOD Bless you great leader of Cuba.

Well, if he was such a visionary then did he choose to give the reins to his brother, Rahul Castro, instead of someone who really deserved it?Unless, he thought that his family knows better than everyone in Cuba on how to shape the country.
