LAKKI MARWAT: Two boys drowned in Kurram River in Mir Azam Michenkhel area here on Thursday.

Local residents said that the two went to the river to beat the hot weather. They said Mohammad Noman, 13, son of Mohammad Tayyab, and Ahmadullah, 10, son of late Hayat Karim, had gone to the river for a swim. “While taking bath in the river, they went into deep waters and drowned,” they said.

They added that local divers rushed to the site and retrieved the bodies from the river when they learnt about the incident.

Funeral prayers of the deceased boys were later offered in the village and attended by a large number of people from different walks of life.
