Zafarwal to become tehsil on July 1

NAROWAL, Feb 2: The Government of the Punjab has issued a notification granting tehsil status to Zafarwal from July 1, 2009.

Zafarwal was a sub-tehsil of Narowal district. The district will now consist of three tehsils --- Narowal, Shakargarh and Zafarwal. The newly-constituted tehsil will comprise 563 villages.—Correspondent
