Pakistanis in Nepal safe: FO

Published September 3, 2004

ISLAMABAD, Sept 2: All Pakistanis in Nepal are safe and Nepalese authorities have assured of foolproof security, Foreign Office spokesman Masood Khan says. He was talking to a private television network on Thursday.

Mr Khan said Pakistan's Embassy in Kathmandu had also taken necessary measures to protect Pakistanis and their families there.

The Foreign Office spokesman said Foreign Secretary Riaz Khokhar had conveyed Pakistan's concern during his conversation with his Nepalese counterpart on Wednesday and asked him to ensure security of Pakistani nationals in that country.

The law and order situation worsened in the Nepalese capital on Wednesday after the killing of 12 Nepalese workers by their Iraqi captors. -PPI
