indra(semi God of war) and kumari(virgin) are two main characters of this festival. kumari is incarnation of Durga a famous deities of hindumat, represent a special role of woman in hinduism. this example break the myth that women have lower status in hinduism.

Love these Hindu festivals. I wished we have similar festivals in Pakistan too.

I wish we in Pakistan would have similarly colourful Islamic festivals too. We must stop this Arab-isation and revert to our sub continental roots. We can be devout muslims and at the same time have some colour in our lives.

Dear Aftab,
Surprised to see your comment. In fact It is a pleasant surprise to me . We always have this perception that Muslims especially Pakistanis will never be able to enjoy / cherish the colour full aspects of other religion especially against Hindus.
But no, you have changed my thoughts and I hope that such artistic sensitivity flourishes everywhere irrespective of what they follow.
