Farooq Hamid Naek is the Minister for Law and Justice

Naek received an MA in Economics from University of Karachi and LLB from Sindh Muslim Law College.

In 1971 he served as Assistant Director, Directorate of Labour and Social Welfare, Government of Sindh and served as a Civil Judge and First Class Magistrate from 1971-75. In the 1980s, he was elected General Secretary of Karachi Bar Association and also served as Deputy Attorney General of Pakistan from 1994 to 1996 during Benazir Bhutto’s second tenure as prime minister.

Although, a long time member of the PPP, Naek rose to prominence as defence counsel for Benazir Bhutto and Asif Ali Zardari during Pervez Musharraf's rule. In 2003 he became a Senator from Karachi, and was appointed Chairmen of Senate and currently serves as Minister for Law and Justice.
