KARACHI The advisor to Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani on Finance Abdul Hafeez Shaikh has been elected unopposed as Senator from Sindh.

 

The Sindh Election Commission issued the public notice of his success on Friday as no one else submitted the papers against him.

 

Formal notification will be issued by the Election Commission of Pakistan Islamabad.

 

After becoming senator he is eligible to become part of PM's cabinet as Finance Minister.

 

Hafeez submitted four nomination papers on the vacant seats after the resignation of former advisor on Finance Shaukat Tareen.

 

Sindh's chief minister Qaim Ali Shah was of the view that his papers had been submitted after consultation with the coalition partners. Thus, he would be elected unopposed. — DawnNews
