AROUND TOWN: Damn-i-Koh Away from the city hassles

One of the most beautiful places of Pakistan; Damn-i-Koh is situated in Islamabad. It is situated at an altitude of 1,100 metres, which provides a bird’s eye view of Islamabad, the beautiful capital of Pakistan.

Naturally cradled in a vintage location, a terraced garden in the Margalla Hills, Damn-i-Koh offers a panoramic view of Islamabad. Here it is possible to see the whole of Islamabad spread out before you, with the President House, Prime Minister Secretariat, the National Assembly and the secretariat offices dominating the east end of the city and towards the left is the huge and beautiful Shah Faisal Masjid. One can even see the Potwar Plateau beyond Rawalpindi serrated by the salt range if the sky is clear.

Damn-i-Koh has developed into a popular picnic spot and viewpoint. A lot of people visit this place to spend a good evening, they enjoy by taking pictures of this naturally beautiful place and eating snacks and meals at nearby restaurants. Damn-i-Koh is such a peaceful place that one can truly relax there at any time of the day. Even though there are a lot of people visiting the place, the calm and clean environment soothes one’s mind completely. People often like to hike up to Damn-i-Koh and enjoy the fascinating beauty on the way.

At night time, however, people usually don’t like to hike and go there to spend time with friends and family away from the buzz and pollution of the city! If you look down from the heights of Damn-i-Koh you can see the bright lights of Islamabad, and if you look up in the sky you see the stars shining above you, which gives an amazing effect to this place even at night time!

The road to Damn-i-Koh from Islamabad is pretty decent which makes it easy for people in Islamabad to visit it every now and then. Even those who come once in a while to Islamabad should make sure to visit this place because it’s worth the visit! The great thing about visiting Damn-i-Koh is that there is only a 10- rupees ticket for cars or families to enter the place, which is why even the under privileged or the ones who cannot afford high class entertainment can visit it!

The sheer beauty of Damn-i-Koh holds enough charisma to force anybody to be fascinated and attracted towards it. It’s true that a picture is worth a thousand words, and any view of Islamabads compelling image can instil a high degree of awe and admiration in the viewer’s mind! Mesmerised by the beauty of Damn-i-Koh one can go on and on about it. However, now it’s time for you to go and visit Damn-i-Koh to get away from the hassles of city life and look at Islamabad lay out in front of you.
