MUSIC: Sawdust

Fall, The Killers released Sawdust — their first ever B-sides album last year.

The Album kicks-off with “Tranquilise”, their new hit which features Lou Reed’s vocals, the ex-Velvet Underground’s vocalist. The song has a retrospective tune of the 70’s music, and a mesmerising effect, typical of The Killers. Then, there are a couple of unreleased tracks from Sam’s Town and Hot Fuss, and can be easily distinguished from the different styles of the albums. Then, there is “Move Away”, the Spiderman 3 soundtrack, which features a masterpiece of Ronnie’s drumming. The album then, rounds-off with their cover of Dire Straits’ Romeo and Juliet, with Brandon doing wonders, yet once again, with his vocals. It is followed by a remix of their famous, “Mr Brightside”, as “Questions with the Captain”.

The bonus tracks include a treat for the fans; live, unplugged and studio versions of their previous groundbreaking singles.

Another topper was their surprise release on December 1, 2007, the Christmas song, “Don’t Shoot Me Santa”, a truly mesmerising track which features a top charting video too.

Even though the album is a B-side, it is a must listen for not just the Electro-Rock, but, all music lovers, as it features dragging-you-to-the-dance-floor kind of stuff.
