KARACHI, May 14 A day's trials to pick a four-member Karachi tennis team for the 12th Sindh Games will be held at the City Sports Complex courts, Kashmir Road, on Sunday at 9.00am, the organisers announced on Thursday.
Players who are not employed in any department affiliated to the POA are eligible to take part in the trials.
The players have been asked to bring photocopy of the CNIC or B form with them.
Karachi suffered a shock 1-2 defeat at the hands of Hyderabad in the tennis final of the last Sindh Games held at Sukkur. The title clash was marred by display of lack of sportsmanship by Karachi's Nomi Qamar and Khalid Ali Nazar who were banned for two months by the Sindh Tennis Association (STA).
Karachi, meanwhile, face an uphill task to recapture the crown after departmental players have been barred to compete in the event. With talented Nasir Mushtaq busy in his examinations and Nomi serving in Wapda, a new-look Karachi team is on the cards.
Besides Nomi, three Karachi-born brothers — Aqeel, Jalil and Yasir — who have been invited in the Davis Cup camp at Islamabad are also employed in Wapda.
