HARIPUR, July 30 The district administration on Thursday issued a notice to displaced families living in different government schools here to vacate the buildings by Aug 1, otherwise they would be forcibly evicted, sources said.
They said 2,000 families from the Malakand region were living in different government schools and other buildings in the Haripur district and were being provided with relief items by local NGOs and other philanthropists.
After the government announced the repatriation plan for the displaced people, 400 families who were not facing financial constraints went back to their hometowns from the district. However, a majority of those living in government schools of Khalabat Township, Haripur city, Hattar, Gulu Bandi, Sera-i-Saleh, Pandak, Central Jail area, Khanpur and other areas are still waiting to be facilitated by the government in their return.
The local administration has given them a notice through police to vacate the school buildings by Aug 1.
This notice, according to NGO and IDP representatives, has landed them in trouble because a number of them were unable to bear the expenses of their return.
