BHURBAN Information Secretary Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Ahsan Iqbal has said that Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has stepped back from the trial of former President General (retd) Pervez Musharraf.

The PML-N information secretary said the PPP had agreed to put the dictator on trial in the past but now it seemed that the PPP was not interested in trying Musharraf.

Rejecting the impression of PML-N taking a soft stance on the issue Musharraf's trial, Ahsan Iqbal said the PML-N Chief Mian Nawaz Sharif in his address on Monday renewed his demand for the trial of the former military dictator under Article-6 of the Constitution.

Asked about the role of Saudi Arabia regarding the trial of Pervez Musharraf, Ahsan Iqbal said 'It is better not to involve Saudi Arabia in this issue.'
