MITHI, April 16 Radio Pakistan's Mithi station has reduced duration of its transmission owing to financial constraints, impeccable sources told Dawn.
The station was getting funds almost late and its administration is unable to pay salary to its staff on regular basis.
Sources close to Radio Mithi told this correspondent that a large number of artistes and comperes of various programmes could not receive remuneration for the last couple of months. Besides, the station has also curtailed duration of its programmes from a normal 12 to four hours daily due to long hours of loadshedding.
The decline of the station could be judged from the fact that it is even unable to run its generator for want of oil.
Radio listeners have expressed their concern over reduction in programmes air time and appealed to relevant authorities to intervene and save the station which is on verge of closure.
