RAWALPINDI, April 27 The Lahore High Court here on Tuesday issued notices to a senior superintendent of Islamabad police and directed a counsel representing the federal government to assist the court in a petition seeking registration of a second FIR in a suicide attack case against former president Pervez Musharraf and others.
Justice Asad Munir of the LHC's Rawalpindi bench issued pre-admission notice to the SSP and asked the counsel to argue on May 6 whether the petition filed by Mohammad Aslam Chaudhry was maintainable or not for regular hearing.
The petitioner through his counsel Mohammad Asad Rajput has challenged the April 19 order of an additional district and sessions judge of Islamabad after his application under section 22-A of criminal procedure code was not accepted on the grounds that the petitioner should join investigations in the already registered case.
Citing Gen Pervez Musharraf, the Islamabad SSP, former interior minister Aftab Sherpao, former interior secretary Kamal Shah, former director-general of Intelligence Bureau Ejaz Shah and senior police and administrative officers of Islamabad on July 17, 2007, as respondents, the petitioner maintained that a blast was carried out to kill Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry who was to address a function of bar association at F-8 Markaz.
Aslam Chaudhry said he was present at the reception site arranged by Pakistan People's Party workers where the blast occurred and he was assured by SP Nasir Aftab that his complaint would be considered when the case would be registered.
