HYDERABAD, Aug 23 District Administrator Aftab Ahmed Khatri has said that Hyderabad is out of flood danger zone and its protective bunds are strong enough to withstand peak flows of high and super floods.

Talking to journalists at his routine press briefing here on Monday, Mr Khatri said that some kutcha areas of Hussainabad and Latifabad had submerged which was not unusual in high flood.

He said that personnel of the irrigation department, SIDA, Pak Army, Rangers, police and their sister organisations were conducting round the clock patrolling on the embankments and the situation was under control.

He said that some kutcha areas of Gulistan-i-Sarmast and Kohisar had submerged but efforts were being made to keep water at a safe distance.

He said that Hussainabad Park and kutchi abadi along with Railway Bridge had also submerged because they were located inside the kutcha areas.

He said that all 3,000 people residing in 25 villages of kutcha areas had been evacuated. More than 15,000 IDPs had arrived in Hyderabad from upper Sindh who had been accommodated in different relief camps, he said.
