KARACHI: Former president of Pakistan, Farooq Ahmed Khan Leghari at 70 years of age, passed away in Rawalpindi on early hours of Wednesday.
Leghari had been a cardiac patient and was treated for the same in CMH Rawalpindi. He belonged to Dera Ghazi Khan District of North Punjab.Leghari was elected eighth President of Pakistan in 1993. He dismissed Benazir Bhutto’s government on allegations of corruption, lawlessness and extra-judicial-killings by using article 58-2B of the constitution on November 19, 1996.
Leghari formed his own political party “Millat,” which he later in 2002 merged in PML-Q. – DawnNews
