SWABI, Nov 9: Tehsil municipal administrations of Swabi, Topi, Chota Lahor and Razaar have failed to conduct anti-mosquito spray despite repeated appeals by the people in view of the growing number of dengue fever cases in adjoining Haripur district.

Talking to this correspondent on Tuesday, people said that the administration officials had failed to make arrangements for anti-mosquito spray though whenever approached they would say that arrangements for house-to-house spray had been finalised.

“Empty pledges and no work is becoming the hallmark of the TMA officials,” said a resident Nooral Amin of Maneri. They alleged that the officials concerned were interested in paper work only. They said that it was the TMA’s responsibility to make anti-mosquito spray every year, but the same had not been done for the last several years.

Residents of Topi, Chota Lahor, Razaar and Swabi tehsils also complained about massive unscheduled power loadshedding. They demanded urgent steps by the TMA officials to kick off an awareness campaign and the anti-mosquito spray.

However, they praised the health department for launching an awareness campaign about dengue fever.
