KARACHI, Nov 29: Vice Admiral Abbas Raza took over Pakistan Fleet as its commander on Monday.
In his capacity as fleet commander he will exercise full operational control over all fleet units comprising destroyers, submarines, missile boats and naval air arm besides other supporting establishments, syas a press release.
Vice Admiral Abbas Raza joined Pakistan Navy in 1973 and was commissioned in the operations branch.
He has served on various command and staff appointments. Before assuming the charge of commander of Pakistan Fleet the vice admiral was serving as deputy chief of naval staff (operations).
The change of command ceremony was held at the Pakistan Navy Dockyard on Monday morning where the outgoing Commander of Pakistan Fleet Vice Admiral Tanveer Faiz formally handed over the command to the newly-appointed fleet commander.
Commander Karachi calls on CM Commander Karachi Rear Admiral Syed Khawar Ali on Monday called on Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah at the CM’s House, app adds.
An official statement said that they discussed matters of mutual interest.
The rear admiral also presented performance reports of cadet colleges of Petaro and Sanghar.
The chief minister asked the commander Karachi to prepare a feasibility study on the establishment of a cadet college in Khairpur.
He also stressed that before recruitments of youth of Sindh for various posts in Pakistan Navy, arrangements should be made for their pre-entry training.
