LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday issued stay orders preventing any amendment in the blasphemy law until further judicial proceedings, DawnNews reported.

The petition filed by a citizen Muhammed Nasir states that the parliament has no right to amend the blasphemy law.

In reponse to Chief Justice Khawaja Mohammad Sharif’s inquiry, the Deputy Attorney General said that no such amendment is going to be presented in the parliament by the government.

The court ordered not to present any bill regarding the blasphemy law until it delivers a verdict on the case. The court issued notices to the federal government for December 23.

The court also postponed the hearing of the petition filed for Aasia Bibi’s pardon in the blasphemy case.
