LAHORE, Jan 17: Soon after the removal of the executive district officer (education), a race has started among senior officials to grab the prized post. Lahore EDO (education) Dr Muhammad Arshad was suspended from service by Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif for his failure to construct a new school on Bedian Road.

Sources claim that two officials – Abdul Rehman Malik and Chaudhry Muhammad Amin – who have already served as Lahore EDO (education) and were removed are top among the candidates vying to get the posting.

They claim that a panel had been formed by the department having two officials as principal and covering candidates.

Punjab School Education Secretary Aslam Kamboh said the government would appoint a keen and clean person as EDO. He said the two officials being named had already failed as education EDO. Stating that he did not see any possibility of their posting again, Kamboh said the EDO would be posted within a couple of days after consultation with the education minister and the Chief Minister’s Secretariat.
