LAHORE: The Punjab Assembly’s Tuesday session was postponed until Wednesday morning due to the disturbance created by MPAs from the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and the Pakistan Muslim League – Quaid (PML-Q).
The session’s agenda was to pass resolutions in public interest but could not be carried out because of the commotion created by the opposition members.
The uproar escalated when Dr Tahir Javed, the parliamentary leader of the Unification Bloc, took the provincial minister’s seat. The PPP and PML-Q MPAs strongly protested to that, so much so that Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah requested Dr Javed to shift from the seat.
Subsequently, Punjab Assembly Speaker Rana Iqbal adjourned the session until tomorrow.
Later, journalists protested outside the Punjab Assembly for the cameraman of a private television channel who had been shot and wounded on Monday.
