LAHORE, March 22: Lahore police on Tuesday informed the Lahore High Court that it did not have any clue to the allegedly missing family members of Faizan and Faheem, victims of firing by CIA contractor Raymond Davis.

This was stated by CCPO Aslam Tareen when he appeared before Justice Chaudhry Iftikhar Husain in connection with a petition, which sought recovery of the missing heirs of the victims and their production before the court.

Mr Tareen said their houses were locked and even locals had no knowledge of their whereabouts.

A law officer on behalf of the Punjab government opposed the petition saying that the petitioner had no locus standi to agitate the matter. He said the family members of Faheem and Faizan were free to move anywhere.

The court, however, sought report from the home secretary in this regard and adjourned hearing till March 28.

Advocate Malik Munsif Awan in his petition stated that family members of both victims went missing after the release of accused Raymond Davis.

He requested the court to summon the respective authorities and direct them to recover the heirs of the victims and produce them before the court.

DIYAT: Justice Chaudhry Iftikhar Husain on Tuesday asked the petitioner and a provincial law officer to come up with arguments on next hearing whether the court had the jurisdiction to hear the petition which challenged the payment of Diyat to heirs of Faheem and Faizan.

The court fixed March 29 for next hearing on the petition filed by Advocate Rana Ilamudin Ghazi who challenged payment of Diyat (blood money) by the Pakistan government to heirs of victims, terming it illegal, unlawful and against Islamic injunctions.

Advocate Ghazi also sought proceedings to ascertain that as to who avoided inclusion of provisions of Anti-Terrorism Act and spying charges in the FIR registered against Davis.

The petitioner said that the name of the accused was on Exit Control List but even then he was allowed to go abroad. He sought action against the responsible authorities.
