ISLAMABAD: DG FIA Waseem Ahmed sent his resignation to Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani on Wednesday, DawnNews reported.

Following the resignation, IG Balochistan Malik Muhammed Iqbal has been appointed the new DG FIA.

Reliable sources told DawnNews that in the resignation given to Gilani, Ahmed stated that he did not want to be a reason of conflict between the judiciary and administration while continuing to maintain his post.

Sources stated that the new DG FIA will take over his post within a few days.
