KARACHI: Model Town Club and Sargodha University earned their first wins in the fourth edition of National Women Football Club Championship.

Striker Khadija struck an 18th minute goal to power Model Town to a1-0 win over Lahore Fighters at MTFA Ground while Sargodha University thrashed Hazara Shaheen 16-0 in a match between the two first timers.

Earlier in Karachi, Diya FC bulldozed debutant Marta 22-0. It was Diya’s second win with a massive scoreline, having defeated TCS 11-0 in a previous match.

Afshan Altaf struck nine goals for the winners while Hajra Khan hit the back of the net eight times while Marium Laghari, Rukhsar Rafiq and Ghazal Farooq also scored.

Karachi Kickers edged past TCS with a 2-0. Both the goals were scored in the first-half through Qurat Ul Ain and Razmina.

In the Rawalpindi based group, Sargodha University recorded a 16-0 win over Abbottabad’s Hazara Shaheen. It was Sargodha’s first win who had earlier lost both their matches.

Spearhead Sidra Gul stole the show with seven goals, while Farhat came into form with five goals. Winger Muqaddas hit the target twice, while the lone goal scorers were Kulsoom and Afshan Perveen.

Meanwhile, 2007 National Champions Sports Sciences earned their second successive win by beating Lahore School of Economics 3-0 after a 6-0 win over Lums on Thursday.

Sumera Perveen, Samia, Ishrat Fatima were the scorers for the winners. LGS suffered a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Lums. Fullback Saba Abbas opened scoring in the 32nd minute and added the second through Aroosa Ahmed in the 66th minute.

Group B:

LSE v Lums (3 PM), LGS v Sports Sciences (4.30 PM)

Group C:

Hazara Shaheen v YRS Rawalpindi (3.30 PM), Margala v YRS Layyah (5 PM).
