SWABI, May 30: Four armed dacoits looted a branch of the National Bank in broad daylight on Monday after holding the staff at gunpoint. They took away Rs2.5 million from the branch located in Zarobi area.

Police officials said the robbers were armed with Kalashnikovs who entered the bank at 10.15am, after overpowering the watchman.

“There was no option except to surrender and we were forced to huddle in a room,” police quoted an employee as telling them. The employee added that the dacoits seized mobiles from the entire staff and collected money from the bank.

It was learnt that some people were present in the nearby shops but they did not make any attempt to help the bank staff or inform the police.

FIR was registered against unidentified robbers in Topi police station. An official claimed the police had raided several areas but no arrest was made.
