Tharparkar is an arid area of the Sindh Province. It comprises four administrative units: Deplo, Chahro, Mithi and Nagarparkar.

Tharparkar is a historic place with rich biodiversity. Cattle farming and agriculture are main sources of income for the Thari people. Various Hindu and Muslim communities live here, and their houses are made of clay and dry grass. These simple homes are called Chaunwra.

Thar is a place where water is considered as the most precious commodity. - Text and photographs by Hussain Afzal/Dawn.com
