KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), Rabita Committee on Thursday welcoming the decision of the Supreme Court in the suo motu action about law and order situation in Karachi has expressed the hope that it will go a long way to bring a durable peace in the city.

In a statement issued by the MQM on Thursday, the MQM body said that "we sincerely respect the decision of the Supreme Court and hope that it will go a long way in bringing peace in the metropolis and that the criminal elements will be weeded out."

The Rabita Committee expressed gratitude to Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry and other judges of the apex court for taking notice of law and order situation and killings of innocent people in Karachi.

The notice helped in restoration of peace and protection of lives of innocent people, it said. The Rabita Committee said that the MQM will continue to play its role for bringing peace and stability to Karachi.

The MQM body has invited all the religious and political parties to come forward and work together for bringing peace and stability and develop harmony and the environment of tolerance.
