RAWALPINDI, Oct 17: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif have moved the Lahore High Court to get corruption references prepared by National Accountability Bureau (NAB) against them quashed.

The Divisional Bench of LHC Rawalpindi Bench comprising Justice Ijazul Hassan and Justice Abdul Waheed Khan will take up the case on Tuesday.

The Sharif brothers and their mother Mrs. Shamim Akhter filed the writ petition with LHC Rawalpindi Bench through their counsel Muhammad Akram Sheikh Advocate, making federation of Pakistan through ministry of Law and Justice, Chairman NAB and Judge of Accountability Court-IV as respondents.

Three corruption references were pending with NAB courts against the Sharif family.

In the Hudaibiya Paper Mills case, Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif are the main accused and the case was filed with the Attock NAB Court on March 27, 2000. In the Raiwind corruption reference, Nawaz Sharif and his mother Shamim Akhtar are the main accused.

They have been charged with accumulation of money and assets beyond their declared means of income by misusing authority.

In the Ittefaq Foundry reference, PML-N Chief Nawaz Sharif and his brothers Shahbaz Sharif and Abbas Sharif along with many others have been accused of securing huge loans and misusing them, causing millions of rupees loss to the national exchequer. —A Reporter
