The day hockey giants Pakistan and India with the rest of Asia surrendered to the west by playing on an artificial pitch the game has gone to the dogs.Gone is the individual flair and stickwork which cannot be produced on an artificial field. In those days real hockey was played.Today it just short passing and tactics.Maybe Asia should bring back hockey on a grass field.Have an Asian cup field tournament.

True, very true. The return of Classic Field Hockey will be interesting. Still to this day we don't have enough astro turf. Now watching hockey is like a new game. Rules have changed so much. No other sports has changed so many fundamental rules.

pakistan hockey 'owner' have not accepted the very notion of game of hockey is much different to that of hockey on grass - they tried old lesson implemented in fluke - coaches appointed having political affliations, old aged players, hardly matched with speed, atheletic physics of europeon's - it high time experts give new ideas for putting game to school, colleges, universities, clubs, and thus save name of country from self styled 'leaders in game' .It is too late to look at the past 'grass glory', look at 'artificial truff' and organize an organization based on scientfic pattern, not political considerations- which seem impossible in this couintry - God save us!

Media can do wonders to revive hockey, just like it did wonders to mitigate both hockey and squash.
There is not enough coverage. There is zilch recognition.
Make our hockey/squash players heroes, sing songs for them, praise them. And see how they & the new talent start performing.
Kudos to the team who made this clip :)

The problem lies with unavailability of artificial hockey pitches and physical standards. I play this game in west and can compare the same back home. In Pakistan very few grounds are available and the ones having artificial pitch is only available to the selected players. Many new natural grounds specifically made for hockey could be made available to public, like school/college grounds after education hours. Similarly, civil and government departments hold such grounds. A little fee can be charged for utilisation of these facilities and this can also help generate extra income. Apart from classical hockey, indoor game should be introduced. The game can take momentum when summers are harsh and at dark hours.

Still wondering why pakistan has not produced a classical player like Hasan Sardar- the man with the magical stick. Hope and pray pakistan and india will rule the game in the coming years.
