NAWABSHAH, July 2: A senior doctor was killed and his driver injured in an armed attack outside the People’s Medical University Hospital here on Monday.

As Resident Medical Officer Dr Ibrahim Shah came out of the hospital in a car, two men waiting there on a motorcycle opened fire on them, causing injuries to Dr Shah and his driver Hafeez Khokhar.

Both were taken to the emergency unit of the hospital where Dr Shah died.

After receiving information, DSP Aijaz Memon visited the place of the crime and collected information from the driver.

Shaheed Benazirabad district president of the PML-N, Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah, cousin of deceased, told journalists that they had no enmity with any one.

He said that the murder of a doctor in a busy area in broad day light indicated police failure to curb crime.

However, the DSP said that possibility of personal enmity could not be ruled out.

The case would be investigated from different angles, he added.

Paramedical staff of the hospital held a demonstration to protest against the incident.
