KOHAT, July 17: MPA Attiqur Rehman on Tuesday said the chief minister’s visit to Hangu was part of the Awami National Party election campaign and not a single demand presented in the welcome address was accepted by Mr Ameer Haider Khan Hoti.
Mr Rehman told Dawn that Hangu and other parts of the district had been burning in the fire of sectarianism and terrorism for 12 years but the successive governments miserably failed to extinguish the fire.
He said the government had enslaved the people at the hands of security forces instead of addressing their problems.
Meanwhile, the area residents expressed disappointment over the CM visit and said the chief minister had visited the area twice over 15 years but no new development package was announced during the two visits.
They also complained that they’re made to stay indoors during the three-day CM visit for security reasons.
