President Asif Ali Zardari on Sunday directed the Pakistan People’s Party’s (PPP) workers to start the preparations for the upcoming general elections, DawnNews reported.
The president promised that the next general elections will be fair, free and impartial and these will be held on time.
Addressing his party workers at the residence of PPP leader Manzoor Wasaan, in DG, Kot area, President Zardari claimed that that the PPP would get success in the next general elections with a heavy majority.
The President said the PPP believed in democratic system and never used back-doors to come into power, therefore, it would depend on power of the masses. Adding that, PPP never believed in rigging the elections and assured that all efforts would be made ensure fair and free elections without any element of rigging.
The PPP co-chairman reassured that the elections would take place in time and thee PPP’s reconciliatory politics would continue.
Referring to the criticism of the people on the present government, the President said, “There has been conspiracies against our government but we have faced them with dedication and the support of the masses.”
The President said, the present government is being targeted through “TV politics” and some elements just criticise the government without any justification in the talks shows at the TV channels.
Moreover, he said that the opponents of the party have panicked after seeing PPP's popularity.
Asif Zardari said, “We are satisfied with our performance and getting the support from the masses.”
He said despite international economic crisis and effects of economic meltdown, the economy of Pakistan made progress during the tenure of the PPP government.
President Zardari said, “The country is now self-sufficient in food and exporting wheat as it was importing wheat when the PPP came into power four and half years ago.”
The President said he knew that the people are facing problems like shortage of water, electricity and jobs but assured that the government has taken a number of steps which would resolve these problems in near future.
He praised the party workers for their sacrifices for the party.

The voter turn out for the 2008 election was 19.5%. One in five did not vote. Now almost everyone complains of inept and corrupt politicains. The list of woes faced by the Pakistani people is endless. However, the solution is at your figner tips! Get out and cast your democratic rights and if the PPP wins the next general election fair and square good luck to Zardari and the mob and I would sadly conconr with President Musharaf last words 'Pakistan ka Allah hi hafiz'

I hope PPP comes to power again with a new vision and strategy to handle governance, foreign policy, inflation, energy and security issues. PPP is far better than PMLN, which only focusses on Punjab's welfare; while PPP is sincere to small provincial units. Those praying for PTI should come out of their illusion.

Two wrongs don't make a right. In fact everything about the plight of the present day Pakistan is due to the timidity and nonsense played by the clueless opponents with particular reference to the Shariffs and the 'mowlanas'. A gutless opponent can be equally responsible in a democracy as the ruling party. Once bitten twice shy, but this universal truth doesn't work in this lawless jungle. Unless the people, particularly those intellectuals, writers, media-men/women, and those brighter ones in the big cities spread the message wide enough to stop calling of 'the wolf is coming' and say to those in the interior that enough is enough, the result would again be zero plus zero as said by this 'wise-man-of-Gotham'.
The only two kinds of approaches can still work viz (i) Exposing thoroughly the corrupt ones. For doing this the real culprits must be identified by an unbiased media if they are really free and honest to this nation, (ii) The other option is to counter this oncoming disaster brought about the impotent 'four' coalition partners and the one in the biggest province by getting united. For doing this all the opposition parties must get dissolved or be merged with the brighter group of the young ones lead by the 'SONAMI-KHAN', despite his own discrepancies - never make a promise which you know you are not getting it right.
Hence get united and adopt 'SOCIAL-BOYCOTT' of the corrupt elements represented by sardars, jagirdars, gaddinasheens, pir, faqirs, mowlanas, mashaikhs and such other swindlers/cheaters/fiddlers who have nothing to do with the common good or for improving the quality of life of the poor. The big question:- Are there plans being evolved to postpone elections? In this case be extra cautions about the London / Dubai based gangsters and their brothers, sons and daughters hiding in your sleeves in the name of supremacy of the parliament. Just ask the one and only one lawyer-wizard who is supreme 'The constitution or the parliament?'

This is your wishful thinking Zardari/ If you arrange bungling then may be you can get some seats in Sindh otherwise except curse and abuse you get nothing. If PPP is returned next time there will be no Pakistan but something else. Your cronies particularly Kaira, Farhatullah Babar, Rehman Malik, Raja Rental, Aitazaz Ahsan Gondal, Ashiq Awan, Meh and Qaim Ali Shah, Somro, Pir Mazhar etc. are misguiding you. I am afraid that the PPP may well be able to con the people of Pakistan AGAIN but not through election rigging.
Zardari will TRY to win via seat adjustments and 'unthinkable' coalitions. These will take place among PPP, PML(Q), MQM, ANP, JUI(F), JI and yes, PML(N).
This strategy will isolate PTI, which major parties consider as the main threat. Imran Khan must look at this scenario very seriously!

Every likelihood that PPP would win next election. Look at Multan people did vote for PPP - gap may have decreased but in first past the post you system only need 1 vote more than your opponent to win. So if the pattern of Multan is followed PPP wins. Who is to blame the voters.

It may be a wishful thinking and self-satisfying on the part of Mr.Zardari'
.In Multan bye-election Zardari league's majority dropped as Gilani's son got a majority of only few thousands.
In Sindh other parties are making in-roads unless he continues to keep his compromising alliances with MQM .In Baluchistan and KPK he has no chance of winning as his positioin is precarious,but all thisdepends on how free and fair the elections will be if held at all.
There is no reconciliation as he has claimed .He has been using Bhutto card in the last 4-5 years to keep himself in power.His allies in coalition are no different than him as he needs them just as they need him
His policies have been worse than any military dictator.This democracy as claimed by him is nothing but a fraud using his allies to get support in confronting mainly the supreme court as his actions seem to be against the norms of democracy.
Even Altaf , his ally in London has been charging him with nepotism,corruption from time to time without admitting that he himself has remained a part of the corrupt administrations all along.from the eighties.
I am not optimistic about the elections in the near future. Zardari has used Aitzaz ,Awan,.Gilani and got rid off them.Now he using Ashraf and company for similar reasons. It has to be seen how long this manipulation will continue.

Mr. President, no more political rhetoric. Visit a road in Karachi, Peshawar, Quetta, Lahore, Multan, or Gujranwala, and ask a layman, he shall let you know about your "heavy majority". As far as rural areas are concerned, you can forget Punjab and KPK. In my opinion, Balochistan's results are still unprediactable. And as far as Sindh is concerned, PML-N and PTI's penetration in the province must be worrying your lot sir.

Look inside, we as Pakistanis do not consider it wrong any more to make money thru illegal means. Even a grade-11 accountant from KWB, living in Defence, is a respected man, as do Policeman Chaudhary Aslam. We make money thru brides, commissions and buy properties in Defence; our elites buy in London, Jeddah and Dubai.. We give respect to all of them. So nothing wrong with it. We all are Zardaris. Out of 180 million Zardaris, one most capable Zardari is ruling us, and he has all the right to rule us again. Allah has promised good leaders only for good people. We are far below Allah's divine benchmark.

Well. He may prove to be right. Think about it . Elections in Pakistan are won in remote constituencies. they dont care about lahore, or karachi. MQM is already in the bag. and Sind only listen to Waderas and landlords. So PTI and Muslim league will cut each others throat while PPP will form the govt with Sind n rural areas of punjab. + Zardari will come up with some lollies for Baloch leaders near the elections as well. so people, get ready. 5 more years of Alam Panah Zardari and his vampires upon us.

Zardari knows himself that he would not be re-elected. Therefore, he has no interest to solve the peoples problem except building up more "Roti, Kapda and Makan" for his party members. Forget "Roti, Kapda and Makaan" for the people, now we don't have even, "Water, Gas" and gifted with more "Gundagiri and corruption." during his tenure. The people wouldn't had voted for peoples party the last time, if they had known that if Zardari would be elected as President.
