LAHORE, Aug 27: An addict youth allegedly strangled his 55-year-old mother and tortured his brother following domestic issues in Gajja Pir locality of Ghaziabad on Monday.

Police inquiries showed that suspect Javed Akhtar attacked his widow mother Shamim Akhtar, tortured her and dumped her body in a trunk after strangling her.

They first quarrelled with each other when the victim reprimanded the accused for selling household items.

The suspect also attacked his brother Pervaiz when he tried to save his mother.

The suspect fled the scene.

HONOUR KILLING: Five people stabbed a 35-year-old woman to death for honour in Kot Kamboh locality of Nawankot on Monday. Police inquiries showed that victim Shazia, a mother of four, was attacked by her nephews Waqas and Kashif and three accomplices.

The woman was fatally injured and rushed to hospital where she died. Police took two suspects into custody.

TRAIN ACCIDENT: A man in his 20s was killed after he was struck by a train near Harbanspura Railway Crossing on Monday. Police said Imran was crossing the track on a bicycle.

CYLINDER BLAST: Two people were injured after an air-filling cylinder exploded at a puncture shop on College Road in Township on Monday.

Rescue 1122 said Shaukat Ali, 35, and Muhammad Kashif, 30, were shifted to Jinnah Hospital.
