Dancing on wheels

Published September 25, 2012

Wheelchair dancing dates back to 1968 when it first originated in Sweden for rehabilitation and recreational purposes.

The earliest competition was too held in Sweden in 1977 with numerous national and international competitions following the trend until the first World Championship was held in Japan in 1998.

Wheelchair couple dances are for either two wheelchair users or for one with a standing partner and include standard dances such as waltz etc.
