RAWALPINDI: The Race Course Police on Monday could not make any advancement in the investigation being carried out in the Dhoke Syedan suicide attack, which claimed lives of 18 innocent people in Rawalpindi, even after five days of the horrifying incident.

The police remained unable to collect any solid evidence, information or clue leading to operators of the suicide bomber except his mutilated head, which has been sent to a laboratory for performing its DNA test.

“Investigating officers are waiting for the result of laboratory test to set direction of the probe and arrest the culprits,” police sources told APP.

When contacted, Station House Officer (SHO) of the Race Course Police Station Chaudhry Jameel admitted that there is no development in the case, however, investigation is going on at ‘fast pace.’

He said evidences, collected from the site of incident, are being thoroughly examined in light of reports submitted by the Bomb Disposal Squad.

The police have detained dozens of suspected people from Dhoke Syedan and its surrounding areas to investigate the tragedy, who have been kept in the police station for the last five days.

Legal experts are of the view that police is bound to produce accused before the court soon after their arrest to ensure fair trial and maintain record at police stations.
