KOHAT, Jan 31: The ongoing differences in Pakistan People’s Party, Kohat chapter, could weaken its position in coming general election.
In a recent development, the local leadership has served a final show-cause notice on incumbent district president Malik Iqbal advocate for giving advertisement in a local newspaper in support of Prof Tahirul Qadri’s march.
The notice issued by local PPP leader Abdur Rauf advocate asked Mr Iqbal to submit his reply by Feb 2 as to why action should not be taken against him for his open support to Qadri’s march.
Mr Rauf had earlier been removed from the post of district president for annoying senior party workers.
However, Governor Masood Kausar was supporting him. Soon after assuming office, divisional president Qalbe Hassan settled problems with the annoyed local leaders.
MAN KILLS BROTHER: A man killed his brother over property dispute in Esakhel area of Kachai here the other day.
Wife of the victim, Riaz Ali, told Ustarzai police that they were taking lunch in their house when her husband’s brother Mumtaz Ali arrived and started indiscriminate firing at Mr Riaz, killing him on the spot. The Ustarzai police have registered a case against the accused.
The same day unknown miscreants attacked house of former union council nazim Abdul Shakoor with bomb in Tappi area here.
Mr Shakoor told Saddar police that they were sleeping when they heard a noise of blast at their doorstep. He said that one portion of the house was damaged, but there was no casualty. According to bomb disposal squad, one kilogramme explosives material was used in the explosion.
The police have registered complaint against unknown accused.
FISH SEIZED: Police foiled an attempt to smuggle huge quantity of fish to Afghanistan and detained an accused the other day.
The police said that during checking of a vehicle (PR-031431), bound for Afghanistan, they found 15 large bags full of fish. The Cantt police have taken the driver, Said Kareem, into custody for investigation.
GAS SUPPLY: Provincial minister for housing Amjid Afridi inaugurated gas supply to Mir Ahmedkhel here the other day.
