ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan on Friday launched what he called the ‘Naya Pakistan Fund’ campaign to finance party candidates who couldn’t afford to run election campaigns on their own.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Khan said the PTI was the only party which had begun the fund raising programme so that people belonging to lower classes could take part in politics.
He once again declared that his party would not form any election alliance with other parties.
Without naming any group, he said his party would not go for seat adjustment with terrorists. In the past, Mr Khan had criticised the PML-N for maintaining links with militant organisations for political purposes.
He criticised what he called corrupt political mafia that had looted public money and used it to buy loyalties of politicians. The PTI was helping people from lower and middle classes to join politics and get the country rid of this political mafia, he added.
Mr Khan said the PTI’s tickets for the coming elections would be awarded on merit, adding that 25 per cent candidates of the party would come from the youth.
He endorsed the appointment of Najam Sethi as caretaker chief minister of Punjab, hoping that Mr Sethi would be able to hold free and fair polls in the province.
Mr Khan was flanked by PTI’s vice-chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Jahangir Khan Tareen, Asad Umar, Naeemul Haq, Dr Shireen Mazari, Farrukh Habib and Faisal Javed Khan.

All jobs and opportunities should be based on merit. Why elimination of failed quota system and replacing it with merit based system not on his manifesto. How long we would the injustice of quota system. Pakistan cannot make progress until we eliminate quota system.

So far for a typical candidate contesting election means coughing up lots of money for funding the campaign and subsequently, once in power, recovering the money so spent in multiples. Now with PTI it is a different ball game. I hope that the candidates whose campaigns would be financed with the public fund raising would not disappoint the public and once in power, return the public many times more with their honesty dedication and spirit of community service. Yes they can make a difference and they should make a difference. If they fail to deliver the goods they go to the dustbin of history once and for all times.

In an election needing large sums of money, the honest and willing to serve the nation do not have the cash.Hence in come the rich and with vested interests getting re elected.Imran Khan is giving the common man a chance to get the proper elected.All he needs is financial help.He should be wary of the fact that those with money that contribute will if his party wins look for favors.He will need the separate the grain from the "corrupt chaff"

Pakistan can do NO worse by giving Imran a chance. He at least seems to be personally honest and there are no accusations of impropriety against him so far.
Though I am not holding my breath over his leadership qualities or political intelligence or understanding of the world affairs but what other choice does Pakistan has?.........NONE.
