LAHORE, March 31: All major parties submitted their priority lists for women and minorities reserved seats on Sunday, the last day for filing these documents.

The Pakistan People’s Party which had earlier submitted the lists on Tuesday (March 26) reviewed its nominations and filed the same afresh.

Women from influential families featured prominently in the priority lists filed by the Pakistan Muslim League-N, the PPP and Tehreek-i-Insaf. However, most of the nominees were new-comers and only a few were repeated.

The PPP’s revised list for National Assembly’s reserved seats for women from Punjab issued with the signatures of former prime minister Raja Pervez Ashraf as secretary-general of the party contains names of Beelum Hasnain, Rukhsana Bangash, Farzana Raja, Fauzia Habib, Mehreen Anwar Raja, Palwasha Zia Khan, Nargis Faiz Malik, Arshia Akram, Bushra Aitzaz, Samina Khalid Ghurki, Samina Mushtaq Pagganwala, Yasmin Rehman, Shahnaz Wazir Ali, Nasira Siddique Mayo, Amtual Rahim, Memona Mushtaq, Shafiqa Rao Sikander, Surriya Zia, Ambreen Ismail, Zubaida Malik, Naila Sarwar, Naurin Waseem and Naheed Shafqat.

In the previous list, Ms Raja was at the eight position and she replaced Ms Aitzaz to figure at the third in the revised one. Fauzia Habib improved her position from sixth position to fourth, Mehreen Raja from seventh to fifth and Palwasha from 10th to sixth.

Nargis Faiz Malik and Arshia Akram were also named in the list for Punjab Assembly, with Ms Nargis on the top of it to push Faiza Malik to the second position.

Shabina Riaz Sheikh, a former MPA who had resigned for fear of being disqualified over a fake degree and went abroad taking the plea that she would be permanently residing in the US, was again accommodated and offered fifth priority in the revised list against 33rd in the previous one.

The 52 nominations for the provincial assembly included: Nargis Faiz Malik, Faiza Malik, Raheela Baloch, Arshia Akram, Shabia Riaz, Rafia Saeed, Najmi Saleem, Ayesha Mushtaq, Shahida Jabeen, Tasneem Fazil, Ambreen Ismail, Neelam Shagufta Awan, Farkhanda Malik, Syedda Irshad, Nasira Shaukat, Noorun Nisa Malik, Bilqees Irfan, Rukhsana Basheer, Sakina Chaudhry, Bushra Naqvi, Sonia Khan, Shaista Mumtaz, Shazia Abid, Sumera Gull, Nusrat Siraj, Khalida Shahid, Nargis Awan, Tasneem Chaudhry, Iffat Mumtaz Shah, Zobia Rubab, Rukhsana Ali, Nazish Iftikhar, Shagufta Butt, Nagina Sadaf, Shaista Khalid Jan, Shagufta Chaudhry, Gulshan Durrani, Memona Mushtaq, Saeeda Noor Mughal, Sehrish Khan, Shahzadi Tauseef, Rukhsana Bunyad, Sajida Malik, Manzoora Naz, Rukhsana Qamar, Rubina Butt, Chanda Rehman, Muqaddasa Bano, Sadia Siddique, Uzma Zahoor, Noreen Sial and Saeeda Umme-e-Laila.

PML-N: Muslim League-Nawaz was the last to submit its priority lists that carried signatures of its president Nawaz Sharif. Officials said modifications were made to the list after some party circles protested ‘over-accommodation’ of some families. Priority-wise 23 names for the National Assembly are: Anushe Rehman, Zaib Jafar, Tahira Aurangzeb, Perveen Masood Bhatti, Ayesha Raza, Shaistan Malik (wife of ex-MNA Pervaiz Malik), Nighat Meer, Majeeda Wyne, Khalida Mansoor, Aassia Naz Tanoli, Rida Khan (daughter of information secretary Mushahidullah Khan), Seema Jilani, Shehnaz Saleem, Laila Khan, Arifa Khalid, Surryya Asghar, Shehzadi Omarzadi Tiwana, Maiza Hameed, Ferhana Qamar, Shaheen Shafeeq, Iffat Liaquat, Shazia Mattoo and Romana.

In the list for Punjab Assembly, Zakia Khan was on the top, followed by Kiran Dar (ex_MPA), Asma Mamdote (ex-PML-F MPA), Nasreen Nawaz, Uzma Zaeem (the wife of Zaeem Qadri), Shaheen Ashfaq, Shaheen Shafiq, Perveen Akhtar, Saba Sadiq, Shahjehan, Rukhsana Kokab, Mehwish Sultan, Farzana Butt, Sumera Samee, Shameela Aslam (ex-MPA), Sultana Shaheen, Naseem Lodhi (ex-PML-Q MPA), Farhana Afzal, Joyce Rofin Julius (ex-MPA), Aysha Javed, (ex-PPP MPA) Azma Bukhari, Saadia Nadeem, Dr Najma Afzal, Kanwal Sureyya Naseem, Dr Farzana Nazeer (ex-PML-Q MPA), Najma Arshad, Sobia Anwar Sati, Shakeela Luqman, Shabina Zakariya Butt, Haseena, Farah Manzoor, Gulnaz Shehzadi, Azra Sabir, Saira Iftikhar, Lubna Faisal, Tamkeen Niazi, Mery Gul, Kaneez Akhtar, Taiha Noon, Khaula Amjad, Dr Alia, Tehseen Fawad, Lubna Rehman Salma Butt, Shehzadi Kabeer, Fauzia Ayub Qureshi, Irm Hasan Bajwa, Raheela Khadim Husain (ex-MPA), Madeeha Rana and Nighat Nasir (ex-MPA).
