DERA GHAZI KHAN, April 6: Traditional rivals Legharis and Khosas have challenged nomination papers filed by each other in the contest for NA-173.

Former telecommunication minister Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari, an independent candidate for NA-173, has challenged nomination papers of his rival Sirdar Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa of PML-N, questioning his academic qualifications.

Mr Leghari’s papers have been challenged by Saifuddin Khosa, son of Zulfiqar Khosa, who has PPP ticket, over declaration of assets.

In his application, Leghari has objected to the academic documents submitted by Khosa, alleging they were not verified by the Inter Board Committee of Chairmen (IBCC) -- a body set up by the government for issuing certificates of equivalence of foreign qualifications.

Awais Leghari has declared his assets’ worth as Rs136 million.

The returning officer concerned will hear the objections on Sunday (today).
