KARACHI, Jan 7 China, Syria and hosts Pakistan are the main contenders for top honours in the finals of inaugural Shaheed Benazir Bhutto International Boxing Tournament which explode into action at KPT Sports Complex Gymnasium here on Friday at 3.30p.m.

Besides five pugilists from China, four boxers each from Syria and Pakistan have entered the fray for the gold medal fights. Among the other participating nations, two fighters each from Iraq, Uzbekistan and Thailand and one each Cameroon, Hungary and Mongolia have reached the finals.

Pakistan are assured of a certain gold and a silver as Mohib Bacha will be facing his compatriot Nadir Khan in the light flyweight final.

World Boxing Champion Amir Khan will be the chief guest while Sindh Governor Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan, Seoul Olympics bronze medallist Hussain Shah, President Pakistan Olympic Association Lt. Gen (r) Syed Arif Hasan, Sindh Sports Minister Dr Mohammad Ali Shah and President PBF Doda Khan Bhutto will distribute the medals and trophies.

Featherweight (57 kg) Donchai Thathi (Thai) vs Wessam Salamana (Syria).

Lightweight (60 kg) Ibrahim Sanda (Syria) vs Adnan Hussain (Pak Greens).

Light-welter weight (64 kg) Mashhurbek Ruziyev (Uzbek) vs B.Tuvshinbat.

Welterweight (69 kg) Ahmed Jassem (Iraq) vs Mulema Joseph (Cameroon).

Middleweight (75 kg) Sile Hu (China) vs Moutafa Fara (Syria).

Light heavy (81 kg) Imre Szello (Hungary) vs Fani Ong meng (China).
