KARACHI, March 13 Beecham Hockey Club won the Inter-club Hockey Championship-2009 by beating United Gymkhana 2-0 at the Hockey Club of Pakistan on Friday.

The match tinged with chaos and confusion saw international left-out Asif Ahmed Khan converting a pass from international centre-forward Arif Bhopali in the 13th minute. The second goal came in the 40th minute when inside-right Rizwan Khan scored off a pass from Olympian centre-half Mohammad Ali.

The match had to be stopped six minutes before regulation time when a fight broke out on the field. A verbal exchange between Beecham's Sarfaraz and United's Faizan resulted in a brawl which was joined in by the teammates and fans, leaving many injured.

The unfortunate incident prompted the chief guest to get up and leave. The match was later awarded to Beecham Hockey Club by the tournament committee but Karachi Hockey Association will be looking into the matter.
