Badminton event in semis stage

LAHORE, July 24 Wajid Ali, Umer Zeeshan and Hashir Basheer entered semi-finals of the Amir Abdullah Khan Rokhri badminton ranking tournament here on Friday.

National champion Wajid outplayed Amir Islam 21-13, 21-8 while Umer defeated Rizwan Azam 21-18, 21-9.

Hashir played a tough match against Nabeel before overpowering him 21-19, 18-21, 21-14.

Wajid will meet Umer in the first semi-final while Hashir will play the second pre-final against the winner of the fourth quarter-final, which is to be decided between Waqas Ahmad and Ahsan Qamar.

In the women section, Ayesha Akram, Sara Khan, Palwasha Basheer and Farzana Ali also marched into the pre-final. Ayesha will take on Sara Khan whereas Palwasha will meet Farzana Ali.
