SUKKUR, May 2: The Taluka Council Sukkur and 22 other Union Councils remained closed throughout the day in protest against the apathy and high-handedness of the police on Friday.

The Taluka Council, led by Nazim Syed Kazim Ali Shah, and the 22 union councils, led by their respective Naib Nazim, in a meeting, held in the Town Hall on Monday, have decided to go on complete strike from Friday onwards. So they did no work today.

They took the decision due to the false assurance of the police official of Sukkur who had promised to terminate the services of the SHO, C-Section police, Gulshan Mahar, last week after he had beaten and tortured a Naib Nazim, Deedar Magsi, in a false case.

The union council Nazims and Nazim of the Taluka Council also held a protest demonstration, which started from the Taluka Office and stopped in front of the press club.

Taluka Nazim Kazim Ali Shah said no work will be done until the SHO, C-Section police, is terminated.

GSTA: The Government Secondary Teachers Association took out a procession to protest against the treasury officer of Jacobabad for not clearing their bills. The protesters accused the officer of demanding bribe for clearing their bills.
