KARACHI, March 27 A short training camp to prepare Pakistan junior team for Asian U-21 snooker championship will be held here from April 1 to 4, the Pakistan Billiards and Snooker Association (PBSA) announced on Saturday.

PBSA President Alamgir Shaikh said they wanted to conduct a fortnight camp for the junior cueists but because of lack of funding, the training camp was reduced to just four days.

He said they had requested the Pakistan Sports Board to grant them Rs500,000 for sending the team to India and holding the camp but only Rs250,000 were provided to them.

He said venue for the training camp will be finalised in due course of time.

National junior champion Mohammad Ahsan Javed, Ishtiaq Ahmed and Asjad iqbal have been selected to represent Pakistan in the event which will run from April 7 to 15 in Indore.

Alamgir Shaikh added that the second edition of NBP National Ranking snooker tournament will be held in Islamabad from April 22 to 28 with 32 cueists in fray.

He said Rs125,000 prize money will be at offer in the championship with the winner taking Rs50,000.—APP
