KARACHI, May 4 National champion Mohammad Asif got off to a sterling start at the 25th Asian snooker championship with victories in the opening two league matches in Tangshan, China, according to information received here on Monday.
Twenty-seven-year-old Asif making his debut in the continental contest defeated Cao Xinlong of China 4-2.
Asif, in his second group 'E' match, whipped Temoujin Tseveedash from Mongolia in four straight frames.
Former national champion Mohammad Sajjad recovered from a poor start by losing his opening match 1-4 against China's Shi Hanqing and beat Nazer Abdullah Asseri of Saudi Arabia 4-2.
