Aga Khan meets Musharraf

ISLAMABAD, May 2: Spiritual leader of the Ismalli community, Prince Karim Aga Khan, called on President Gen Pervez Musharraf at the Aiwan-i-Sadr on Friday.

Welcoming the Aga Khan, the president appreciated the various philanthropic and development projects undertaken in Pakistan at his initiative.

President Musharraf praised the keen personal interest of Aga Khan in health, education and other welfare projects in the social sector. The Aga Khan lauded the recent economic achievements of Pakistan, and said the country offers an investment-friendly climate.

He reaffirmed his close and abiding relationship with Pakistan, and said he would continue to work for the welfare and betterment of the people.

Later, the president hosted a dinner in honour of Prince Karim Aga Khan which was also attended by cabinet ministers, senior government officials and a cross-section of the Ismalli community.

Earlier in the afternoon, the Aga Khan was accorded a warm welcome on his arrival at Islamabad airport on a three-day official visit to Pakistan.

Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Northern Areas, Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao, greeted the distinguished guest on behalf of the president.

During his stay in Pakistan, the Aga Khan will be holding a number of high-level meetings.

An extensive programme has been made for the visit. —APP
