Afzal stars in Qasmi`s victory

KARACHI, Aug 29 A splendid all-round performance by Mohammad Afzal inspired Qasmi CC to a narrow 10-run win over Saddar Town in the 23rd Aga Khan Gymkhana Ramazan Twenty20 cricket tournament at the AKG Ground here on Sunday.

Batting first, Qasmi CC scored 160-5 with S.M. Zafar making 46 off 33 balls with the aid of five boundaries and one six. Afzal remained unbeaten with a 31-ball 38 that included two fours while Javed Kohistani struck three fours and one six in scoring 28 off 22 balls.

Spinners Shoaib Ibrahim and Shoaib Rajput took two wickets each.

Saddar Town, in reply, were restricted to 150-7. Shumail Aziz was the leading scorer with a 40-ball knock of 55 in which he slammed four fours and one six.

Slow left-armer Fahim Ahmed Sr and leg-spinner Azhar Shah claimed two wickets apiece while Afzal took one wicket, held one catch and ran out one batsman to earn the Man-of-the-Match award.
