Abbottabad Rockies beat Sialkot Eagles

KARACHI, Sept 12 Bio Amla Abbottabad Rockies beat Maksons Sialkot Eagles 3-2 in the 1st MCB Junior Hockey Super League at the Hockey Club of Pakistan (HCP) on Saturday.

Centre-forward Taimur Malik (16th min), left-in Abdul Qayum (46th min) and left-out Mohammad Rehan (57th min) scored for the winners.

Sialkot's two goals were scored by their captain and right-in Mohammad Umair (36th min) and fullback Javed Riaz (62nd min).

Abbottabad's centre-half Atif Zahoor was declared the Man of the Match and given the prize by Olympian Naeem Akhtar. Earlier on Friday, Maksons Sialkot Eagles edged past Engro Larkana Qalandars 2-1.

Larkana were first to score through centre-forward Ali Noman in the 18th minute but could not maintain the lead with Sialkot equalising through fullback Wasim Abbas in the 34th minute and then overtaking them through right-out Mohammad Umair in the 58th. Both the goals were scored through penalty-corners.

Larkana's goalkeeper Nasir Ali, who saved at least nine goals, was declared the Man of the Match and presented the prize by national selector Olympian Farhat Khan.
