LAHORE Two-day trials to select the national team for the World Cup hockey will be held at the National Hockey Stadium on Friday and Saturday.

After completion of trials, an 18-member team will be selected for the mega event which is being held in New Delhi, India from Feb 29 to March 13.

Goalkeeper Salman Akbar, who was not selected for the two Test matches series, which was held against Holland at a neutral venue (Qatar) last month, is most likely to regain the place.

The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) is continuing the preparations for the World Cup, while awaiting security clearance from the federal government for visiting India. The PHF has also requested the government to send a security delegation to India to assess the arrangements.
